Eighteenth Sunday
of the Year
The Holy Father,
Pope Benedict XVI has dedicated a
‘Year of the Priest’ from
19th June 2009 - 19th June 2010
to encourage spiritual perfection
in priests.
Prayer for Priests
in this Year for Priests.
O JESUS, I
PRAY FOR YOUR PRIESTS-
For your faithful and fervent priests,
Your unfaithful and tepid priests
For Your priests labouring at home,
or abroad in distant mission fields,
For your tempted priests
For your lonely and desolate priests
For your young priests,
For your sick priests,
For your dying priests
For your persecuted priests
For the souls of your priests in purgatory,
For your priests, world wide.
BUT ABOVE ALL I RECOMMEND TO YOU-
The priests dearest to me,
The priest who baptised me
The priests who have absolved me from
my sins
The priests who presided at Masses
I attended
All priests to whom I am indebted
in any way, O Jesus, keep them close
to your heart and bless them abundantly
unto eternity.
Amen

St
John Vianney, 1786-1859,
had to contend with poverty,
military service and his own
intellectual shortcomings
in order to become a priest.
In 1817, Father Vianney was
sent to care for the people
of a small, obscure French
village called Ars. The marvelous
gift of the unlearned priest
for seeing into the depths
of the soul brought the world
to Ars. From 1830 onwards
Father Vianney averaged twelve
to sixteen hours a day in
the confessional. Patron of
priests.

The
Transfiguration.
The cross requires the exodus
of Jesus, his death, resurrection
and glorification. The disciples
have to realize that he must
depart just as they are now
prepared for his going up
to Jerusalem to die.
