St Oliver Plunkett
Parish Bulletin for Sunday 4th November 2007

Thirty-First Sunday In Ordinary Time

November is the month of the Holy Souls when we pray for all our dead relatives and friends. Each weekday 10am Mass during November will be offered for all those mentioned in our November Dead Lists.

"Those who die in grace
Go no further from us
Than God
And God is very near."

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon them
may they rest in peace. Amen.

Diocesan Appeal - Planning For The Future

Dear Parishioners of St Oliver Plunkett,

I write to inform you of the progress of our Diocesan Appeal ‘Planning for the Future’ both as regards your parish and the aims of the Appeal.

You the parishioners of St. Oliver Plunkett were set a target of £67,133. You made commitments of £78,494 of which you have now contributed £54,396 with a further £7,133 in gift aid, making a total of £61,529. My sincerest thanks to all.

I appreciate and understand that a donation pledge over a number of years can be demanding and stretching financial contribution. I urge you to maintain, if at all possible, your commitment to enable the diocese and your parish to continue to plan with confidence for the future.

You will be pleased to know that at present 61 of our 88 parishes have exceeded their target and a total amount of £3,053,903 has now been returned to those parishes. A further £125,000 has now been assigned to the Fund for our Sick and Retired Priests, £125,000 to Faith Development and £100,000 to the Cathedral making what they have received £2,405,074, £2,405,074 and £1,924,059 respectively.

The generosity of so many parishioners right across the Diocese to the Appeal is enabling us to plan well for the future.

I pray God’s blessing on the parish of St. Oliver Plunkett

+Patrick Walsh
