St Oliver Plunkett
Parish Bulletin for Sunday 26th November 2006

Our Lord Jesus Christ Universal King

Dear Parishioners of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish

It is very important that the people of the diocese should be informed twice yearly of the progress of our Diocesan Appeal ‘Planning for the Future’ for it is the people of the Diocese who have ensured the success of the Appeal.

With the contributions already received we have now, in accordance with the three specific aims of the Appeal, set aside a further £150,000 for the care of our sick and retired priests, a further £150,000 for faith development projects and a further £120,000 for the restoration of the Cathedral bringing the totals received to date to £2,080,074; £2,080,074 and £1,664,059 respectively.

You the parishioners of St. Oliver Plunkett were set a target of £67,133. You have made commitments over the three year period of £78,434 of which you have now contributed £47,056 with a further £5,242 in gift aid, making a total of £52,298. My sincerest thanks to all.

In my letter to parishes of May 2006 I stated that thirty six parishes had at that stage exceeded their targets and I am pleased to report that a further twelve parishes have now exceeded their targets and will be receiving cheques for their parish needs. In all the 48 parishes will have received to date £2,088,022.

I appreciate and understand that a donation pledge over a number of years can be a demanding and stretching financial contribution. I urge you to maintain, if at all possible, your commitment to enable the diocese and you parish to continue to plan with confidence for the future.

May God bless you all.

Yours sincerely
Patrick Walsh
