St
Oliver Plunkett
Parish Bulletin for Sunday 18th June 2006
| The
Body and Blood of Christ

As
we receive the ‘Body of Christ’ (Corpus
Christi) today at our Mass, remember that God
is putting himself into our outstretched hands
or tongues. He is placing Himself in our care
this week so that we can recognize and respond
to Him present in those starved of greeting or
affection, in the youth who need adult leaders
and example, in the elderly, the infirm, the needy
– we truly celebrate Corpus Christi. Today
as he is paraded gorgeously through our city in
procession, a time to wonder: if we really believed
what we claim, we would genuflect to the tabernacle
and then to each other.
There
will be a Corpus Christi Procession today
Starting from
Dominican
Convent, Falls Road at 3pm.
to the Cathedral for Benediction
You are invited to take part in this long tradition
of carrying the
Blessed Sacrament through our City

Happy
Father's Day
Celebrating
the Gift of our Fathers
Hear,
You children, the instructions of
a father and seek to understand
them.
Proverbs 4:1
|
|
|
As
we celebrate and remember our earthly
fathers, who along with our mother gave
us the gift of life,
we thank God for the gift of our beloved
heavenly Father.
We are grateful too,
for all who have shown a fatherly concern
for us
whether they be a step-father, grandfather,
adopted father, God father, foster father
or some other person who has watched over
us
and directed us in the path of goodness.
As
we pray for our fathers, living or deceased,
we also give thanks to Saint Joseph,
the foster father of Jesus and head of
the Holy Family.
Joseph has the many qualities a father
should possess
and we ask him to watch over all fathers
and fathers-to-be.
